Rustic Urban Edible

A STYLIZED San Francisco family foodscape

The perfect blend of East to West in this beautiful San Francisco Victorian family landscape (completed March '17). An informal flagstone courtyard hosts the family dining table and grill - surrounded with herb, berry and citrus planters. Scented jasmine hugs the walls to soften the surrounding vertical buildings and bring a sense of intimacy. The reconfigured stairs open up a new breakfast deck at the top and two raised vegetable planters with custom trellis sit at the bottom. The small lawn is framed by a rustic dry-stack stone wall with planting pockets throughout to soften and create an aged quality. A bench has been integrated into the wall to add visual interest and an alternative place to relax and enjoy the yard. A narrow easement at the rear has been transformed into a secret garden for the children, with a deck walkway through long grass/ferns to a hidden fort.  Lots of elements in a small city yard while maintaining a sense of space and openness.
